Cardiac Rehab

Cardiac RehabThe American Heart Association defines Cardiac Rehabilitation as a medically supervised program that helps heart patients to recover quickly, and to improve their overall physical, mental, and social functioning. Howard County Medical Center believes that patients that are given the information and are subsequently compliant have a great opportunity to stabilize or slow down the disease.

Keys to “Enhancing Health, Raising Spirit”

Exercise: Cardiovascular activity is individualized to meet personal levels of ability.

Counseling: Individual instruction is given to help patients effectively lose weight while also lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels. This program will also provide additional support as the patient adjusts to the many changes in his or her daily routine.

Behavior Changes: Learning specific skills will help patients break old habits, while learning healthy new ones.

Cardiac RehabHow does this all work?

Signing Up: Interested patients receive a complete evaluation prior to enrolling in the program, and must be referred by their doctor. Progress reports are sent directly to your medical provider, and a physician is available at all times, should the need arise.

Exercise Sessions Available:

Education Sessions: Before, during and after your exercise session, we will cover topics of concern, such as risk factors, coping with heart disease, and guidelines for exercise. These sessions are held twice per week.

This would help me! But will my insurance cover it?

Insurance may cover all or part of the cost of Cardiac Rehab. The percentage of your coverage is determined by your individual insurance policy. Medicare patients may also enroll in the program with certain admitting diagnoses. Our Cardiac Rehab staff can assist in determining the amount of insurance coverage available prior to enrollment in the program.

I Am interested! How do I get more information?
