Clinical Informatics Coordinator
- Primary function is to coordinate aspects of planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of clinical information system including the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer applications; apply clinical expertise to guide the evolution of clinical software implementation and help clinicians focus on personalized high-quality patient care in accordance with professional standards of practice.
- Provides orientation and ongoing education on the EMR software to nursing staff, with the ability to assist with other department training as needed.
- Provides leadership to increase nurse satisfaction and healthcare IT system adoption.
- Assists clinical staff in troubleshooting, building and maintaining templates or other features of the EMR to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
- Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams to define/redefine documentation requirements and practices.
- Responsible for staying abreast of computerized documentation technology and ensuring documentation requirements are met.
- Maintain exceptional product knowledge and coordinate program to update all employees, including providers, on new features and existing functionality to ensure a smooth transition.
- Acts as a liaison to the medical staff to assess their needs and provide information and training.
- Aware of organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to orders and clinical documentation, and contributes to policy and procedure development as warranted.
- Develops and maintains a quality improvement program for clinical information systems. Monitors, reports and collaborates with other departments to identify areas for improvement and efficiency. Completes documentation audits for applicable departments.
- Completes programming and alterations to the clinical documentation software.
- Clearly communicates problems with the system to the vendor and tracks responses, ensuring a resolution.
- Serves as first line resource for clinical issues with appropriate resolution instructions.
- Collaborates effectively with vendor/ clinical staff regarding application and workflow problems, and reports back findings in an appropriate time frame. Communicates clearly and concisely with all departments in the Medical Center, and develops training as needed.
- Learns core Nursing and Information Technology functions and assists with projects as necessary.
- Provides assistance to the IT department during system maintenance, upgrades, and changes when time is permitted.
- Works as a staff nurse on a periodic basis to maintain clinical awareness and competency.
- Allows for flexible scheduling so to accommodate the needs of all shifts.
- Associates Degree in Nursing is required. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, along with certification in nursing informatics is preferred.
- 3-5 years of hospital based nursing is required, along with prior experience in electronic medical record implementation.
- This position will primarily be a day position, with flex hours when needed.

Registered Nurse
- Administer oral and IM medications correctly and have knowledge of drug use.
- Administer IV medications and maintain proper insertion sites according to HCMC policies and procedures.
- Utilize the nursing process to initiate an admission process; and individualize and implement a nursing care plan, including patient/family education and discharge planning.
- Demonstrate expertise in systems assessments, recognition of significant changes in patient condition, establishment of priorities, and nursing interventions.
- Ensure complete documentation of all aspects of assigned patients.
- Promote the team concept through interpersonal relationships with patients, families, medical staff and/or other health care providers to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.
- Demonstrate respect for patients’ rights, privacy and serve as a patient advocate.
- Communicate with families regarding the patient’s condition.
- Assist the medical staff when necessary with procedures.
- Ability to do treatments and maintain sterile procedures.
- Direct admissions, dismissals and transfers of patients.
- Have working knowledge of Obstetrics, Nursery, Emergency Room, Cardiac, Geriatrics, Pediatrics and Medical-Surgical areas. Provides direct supervision and oversight to LPNs and CNAs.
- Provides direction and supervision of LPN-Cs. Assesses and documents on the IV condition of assigned LPN or LPN-C patients at least once every 24 hours, or more frequently if the patient condition or IV therapy are changed.
- PRN & part time positions available, as well as a full time week-end position (Friday-Saturday-Sunday)
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.

Emergency Room Tech/Certified Nursing Assistant
- Completes the computer entry process for all ER patients.
- Completes a variety of clinical and clerical tasks in the ER as directed by the RN.
- Assists with cleaning and restocking of the ER as necessary.
- Assists with oral care, bathing, shaving, combing hair, backrubs, trimming nails, etc.
- Change linens on patient beds, at the time of bath, and as needed; including occupied and unoccupied beds.
- Get patients out of bed and help them into chair or wheelchair as needed using appropriate equipment.
- Ambulates patients as ordered, with appropriate equipment.
- Take vital signs for inpatients and outpatients as ordered, and document accordingly.
- Knowledge of location of emergency equipment and able to assist professional staff in any way at all times.
- Assist with the admission, dismissal and transfer of patients as directed by licensed staff.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Current nursing assistant certification is required within 90 days of employment
- Full time and part time night positions available (7:00 pm - 7:00 am)
- Week-end Rotation is every 3rd weekend.

Medical Technologist
- Performs various laboratory functions according to Laboratory policy.
- Conducts of microscopic, chemical, bacteriological, and hematological tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease
- Assists with phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients as necessary
- Performs EKGs on patients as required
- Ensures quality control by performing testing; documents as required.
- Complete faxed orders from miscellaneous physicians.
- Records patient’s results accurately.
- Documents proficiently (within Healthland and the Laboratory Information System) patient results.
- Reports patient results to medical providers as required
- Completes yearly competency testing in all areas of the Lab and maintains education by keeping informed of new trends and developments in the field of medical technology.
- Makes suggestions which could result in a positive financial performance and increased customer satisfaction.
- Clinical training in an approved accredited program or previous work experience in a Clinic or Hospital setting is preferred.
- Applicant must have a 4 year Medical Technologist Degree as well as ASCP Certification or equivalent.
- Full time position would be Monday-Friday, 7:00-3:30, with 1 day of call per week, and every 5th week-end.
- Clinical training in an approved accredited program or previous work experience in a Clinic or Hospital setting.

Communications Operator
- Provide telecommunication with internal and external customers to provide information and resolve problems. Employ an advanced use and understanding of the English language in order to receive information and communicate appropriately with others.
- Operate the telephone system and any associated software in an efficient and accurate manner.
- Conducts self in a professional manner, exhibiting courtesy and a good corporate image.
- Answers incoming phone calls in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Assists patients and staff with internal and external telephone call needs.
- Transfers calls to appropriate departments and staff, including physicians, public, vendors.
- Follow appropriate patient privacy and confidentiality practices as set forth by the Howard County Medical Center.
- Conduct routine office and administrative functions to ensure accuracy of information, and effective and organized operations.
- Ensure that the work area is clean and organized.
- Notify the Information Technology department in a timely manner of any telephone maintenance issues that arise.
- Assist the Business Office with mail tasks as required.Assist the Medical Records department with filing as time permits.
- Part time position would include a minimum of 1 shift per week (7:30-5:00), and every 4th week-end.
- Prior office experience is preferred.

Cook
- Prepares and cooks all meals for patients, employees and visitors working from posted menus, patient marked menus and patient diets as ordered by physicians.
- Checks patient list of the day and adjusts tray set up for breakfast.
- Communicates with patients regarding menu options, like, dislikes, etc.
- Has the ability to read and follow diet cards for all meals.
- Makes the necessary food items for the next day’s menus, such as jell-o, salad or dessert.
- Plans for the next days’ meals by removing meat from the freezer, etc.
- Record freezer and refrigerator temperatures to ensure that the Medical Center is staying incompliance with stated and federal code.
- After each meal is finished, will be responsible for making sure the counters, kettles and utensils are cleaned and the meal count is recorded.
- Clean other areas of the Dietary Department as assigned by the Dietary Director.
- Prepares the patient satisfaction survey and distributes to patients.
- Responsible for collecting completed surveys.
- Full time position would be (4) 9-hr shifts per week, and every other weekend. (3 shifts would be 5:30-3:00, with 1 shift being 9:30-7:00).
- Prior cooking experience in a healthcare facility is strongly preferred.
